Newly married and empty nesters, my clients were at the threshold of an exciting new chapter. The brief was to help them design a home that combined their personal histories and tastes. The spaces need to feel fresh and free of clutter, but still be warm and interesting. I worked with them to curate the furnishings and items from their former lives that would stay and contribute to a new blended aesthetic. To highlight these treasures, I designed a home with a bright backdrop that gives their extensive collection of original artwork room to breathe. To pay homage to their respective careers as a journalist and academic, I added pops of bold colour and pattern, which speak to their curious and creative personalities.
