A top builder in Edmonton approached me to create a show home to kick off sales for a new estate community. The mandate was to design something that would appeal to a family with teenagers that loved to entertain. Oftentimes show homes can feel staged and sterile, so my team and I focused on making this home feel upscale but exceedingly livable. The design plan included purpose-built rooms for adults and teens, and joint spaces where the entire family could hang out together, such as the theatre. I imagined the family piling onto the plush sectional for Friday movie nights or to binge-watch their favorite show. Another inviting touch was the extensive millwork throughout the home, which immediately elevated the design by adding structure, dimension, and a curatorial aspect to each room.
